Sample Additional Practice Exercise 1

Draw lines to match the counters from one group to the other group. Then draw a circle around the groups if they are equal in number or mark an X on the groups if they are NOT equal in number.

2 groups of counters with 3 counters in each. Lines match the counters in each group. The groups are circled.

Draw lines between the counters in the top group and the counters in the bottom group. Every counter in one group can be matched to a counter in the other group, so the groups are equal in number. Circle the groups.

MATERIALS

Small objects such as forks, spoons, pencils, or pens

ACTIVITY

Give your child 5 objects. Place up to 5 objects on the table. Ask your child to make a group of objects that is equal in number to the group you made. Repeat with different numbers of objects.
