Sample Additional Practice Exercise 1

Draw lines to match the groups of counters. Draw a circle around the group that is greater in number than the other group, and then explain why you are correct.

A group of 2 counters and a group of 3 counters. Lines match 2 counters in each group. The group of 3 is circled.

Draw lines between the counters in each group. The bottom group of counters is greater in number because there is one extra counter that cannot be matched. Circle the bottom group of counters.

Give your child 5 objects. Place up to 4 objects on the table. Ask your child to make a group that is greater in number than the group you made. Repeat with different numbers of objects.
