Sample Additional Practice Exercise 1

Draw lines to match counters from one group to the other group. Mark an X on the group that is less in number than the other group and then explain why you are correct.

A group of 5 counters and a group of 3 counters. Lines match 3 counters in each group. An X is marked on the group of 3.

Draw lines between the counters in each group. The group of counters on the right is less in number because there are not enough counters to match with every counter in the group on the left. Draw an X on the group of counters on the right.

Give your child 5 objects. Place at least 2 objects on the table. Ask your child to make a group that is less in number than the group you made. Repeat with different numbers of objects.
