Sample Additional Practice Exercise 1
Count the number of dots, use counters or other objects to show that number, and then draw counters in the box to show the same number of counters as dots.

Set down one small object, such as a penny or counter, for each dot as you count: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. Draw 9 counters in the box. Count the counters to be sure there are 9.

8 or 9 in a Group
MATERIALS
Small Objects, Pencil, Paper
ACTIVITY
Have your child count groups of 8 objects. Then ask him or her to draw pictures of 8 objects. Repeat using the number 9.
