Sample Additional Practice Exercise 1
Count the cubes, write the numbers to tell how many, and then mark an X on the number that is less than the other number.
First group shows, cube, cube, cube, cube, cube, cube, cube, cube. Number 8 is written next to it. Second group shows, cube, cube, cube, cube, cube, cube. Number 6 is written next to it. An X is marked on the number 6.
Count the cubes in the top group: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Write 8. Count the cubes in the bottom group: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Write 6. There are fewer cubes in the bottom group, so 6 is less than 8. Draw an X on the 6.
