Sample Additional Practice Exercise 1
Count the number of each color cube, write the numbers to tell how many, and then circle the number that is greater than the other number. Use the number sequence to help.
The number 8 is written next to a light cube. The number 10 is written next to a dark cube. The number 10 is circled.
Count one color cubes: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Write 8. Count the other color cubes: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. Write 10. 10 is greater than 8. Draw a circle around 10.
HOME ACTIVITY
Groups of Pennies and Nickels
MATERIALS
Pennies, Nickels, Paper, Pencil
ACTIVITY
Shake up to 10 pennies and up to 10 nickels in your hand. Let them fall in a random group on the table. Have your child count the number of each coin, write the numbers, and then hold up the coin of the number that is greater. Repeat with different numbers of coins. Vary the activity by asking them to hold up the coin of the number that is less or hold up both if the numbers are equal.
