Sample Additional Practice Exercise 1

Draw the number of wheels and write how many in all.

A bicycle, and a tricycle. Two circles under bicycle and 3 circles under tricycle. To the right is written

There are 2 wheels on the bicycle.

There are 3 wheels on the tricycle.

 

Count 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. There are 5 wheels in all. Draw 5 circles. Write 5.

ACTIVITY

Give your child 10 pennies and then say a number between 2 and 10. Ask your child to make that number with two groups of pennies and then clap or knock to show you the two parts. For example, if you say 8, your child can make a group of 5 pennies and a group of 3 pennies and clap 5 times and knock 3 times.
