Marta tosses 10 cubes toward a circle. Seven cubes land inside the circle. How many cubes are left?

10 cubes in a circle and 3 outside the circle.

There are 10 cubes. Seven land in the circle. That means $10 - 7 = 3$ cubes land outside the circle.

Coins, Napkin

ACTIVITY

Put up to 10 coins on a napkin and have your child count them. Then move some of the coins off the napkin. Say, “How many coins are left on the napkin?” Repeat the activity using a different number of coins.
