Sample Additional Practice Exercise 1

Draw a line from each solid shape to the object that looks like that shape.

Geometric shapes and real world objects. On the left, a cube, a cone, a cylinder. On the right, a can, a block, an ice cream cone. The cube and block are matched; the cone and ice cream cone are matched; the cylinder and can are matched.

A block is shaped like a cube. They both have 6 flat square surfaces. So, draw a line from the cube to the block. A can is shaped like a cylinder. They both have 2 flat surfaces shaped like a circle. So, draw a line from the cylinder to the can. An ice cream cone is shaped like a cone. They both have one flat surface shaped like a circle. So, draw a line from the cone to the ice cream cone.
