Sample Additional Practice Exercise 1

A building shaped like a cylinder, with a cube on top that has a rectangular door.

Look at the building. Circle which shapes you can see in the building and describe where you see them.

A cylinder, a triangle, and a rectangle. The cylinder and rectangle are circled. Below that, the words,

The first shape is a cylinder. It is a 3-D shape with two flat bases shaped like circles. You can see that the bottom of the building is shaped like a cylinder. The second shape is a triangle. It is a 2-D shape with 3 sides and 3 vertices. There are no triangles in the building. The last shape is a rectangle. It is a 2-D shape with 4 sides and 4 vertices. You can see rectangles in the windows of the building and on the cube at the top of the building.
