Sample Additional Practice Exercise 1

Look at the object on the left and compare it with the object on the right. Draw an X on the object that is lighter, or underline both objects if they are the same weight. Draw a circle around the tool you can use to tell about the weights of the objects.

A mug and a can of paint. There is an X through the mug. A pan balance and a cup measure. The pan balance is circled.

Look at the mug and the can of paint. A mug is lighter than a can of paint. Draw an X on the mug.

Now look at the tools. A pan balance can be used to measure weight. A measuring cup can be used to measure capacity. Draw a circle around the pan balance.
