Draw counters to make 13 and write an equation to match the picture. Tell how the picture and the equation show 10 ones and some more ones. A double ten-frame with 10 red counters in the first ten frame. 3 more are in the second. 10 and 3 is 13.

There are 10 counters in the top ten-frame. Draw 3 more counters to make 13: 10+3=13. The picture and the equation show 10 ones and 3 more ones equal 13 ones.
