Circle the column that has the number 9 in the bottom row, count the numbers in this column aloud, and then explain the pattern you see and hear.

Circle, 9, 19, 29, 39, 49. The second digit, 9, is repeated in every number. Say, “nine, nineteen, twenty-nine, thirty-nine, forty-nine.” You also hear nine in every number.
